Christmas Gifts

Because I have been unemployed for a while now and jobs seem to be very hard to come by, I have had to make allot of the Christmas gifts I give this year. These are very easy to make and are great to have in the kitchen. They are used to put your hot dishes on so that the counter doesn't get burned. They are also just pretty to have on the counter to bring color into the room.

Use a good 100% cotton fabric. Layer one on top of another with the right sides facing. Draw or trace a 6" x 8" shape on one side and sew three sides only. Cut around close to stitching and turn

'Right side out'. Iron flat and measure across to make five even lines going across (they will each be about 1" wide) Use a ruler and draw the line right onto the top side only from top to bottom. Sew down each line and back stich to hold the stitch. Use a funnel and fill each cylinder with dry white rice. Leave about 1" from the top with no rice. Turn each side in at the end and fold the end over twice. Stitch the folded end closed. Use a matching ribbon around the center.

These will not burn from the hot dish or pot but Do Not get them wet!
