Mama Doll Beginning

I was able to limp along with my broken machine today and get my Mama doll started. I had one body all stuffed but the head was too small. Now I like the size of the head but I should have made her face more dimensional with some cheeks. Oh well! we'll see how it goes.

I've never done this kind of doll before so this is all very new to me. I sewed on some little ears and I really wanted to take away the seam lines and build up some hair like the original doll has. I was playing around and mixed some spackling with a little water to make a gooey paste. Right now it looks good and has done what I wanted it to do. We'll see what happens later. Hopefully it doesn't crack. As soon as it's dry I'll give it a light sanding and a couple of coats of Gesso. While it's drying I'm going to start designing arms and legs. Stay with me :) I'll have pictures to show what happens either way. This doll is for me so no pressure. It's all for fun :)

Looks good so far. Really sorry about your machine. Both of mine are old and in need of check ups and tension repair but like you, need some extra money.
